museum ritter
trade fair stand
art frankfurt 2005

sunflower yellow, offset with red. a splash of sunflower yellow startles the white, white world of the art fair. like perfumed petals it attracts swarms of visitors. between the red pistils they locate the sweet square sources of pollen: little blocks of chocolate spread across the yellow countertop. a love of squares is everywhere: along with the chocolate and the footprint of the stand itself, all of the art in this collection is captured in squares. as they fly by, visitors to this temporary world of art can snap them up in postcard form from three red ribbons, and carry them off to have and horde. drawn to the heart of this tender trap, art lovers discover another sweet secret: a new museum is being built. there it is, in model form, a white spot on the yellow table amidst all the yellow surfaces. with its bright red ribbons and their yellow printed messages, the sunflower-yellow room beams out its message: hey, i’m a new museum, come and take a look at me!
