information- and signagesystem
yverdon-les-bains 2009
invited international competition, not realized
the signage system is invisible. into the weave of old and new, architecture and landscape, forms are interwoven which borrow from what already exists and refer to familiar, local patterns.
a new family of signs is introduced alongside the old signs. the new signs are simple, with designs that point to the existing world with their arrow-style shapes and accentuated borders. their colour and ornamentation signal that they are something special. these are the town’s own cheerful, polite communicators.
the borders of the signs are decorated with ornaments based on the town’s historical heritage. sections of railing, arches on façades and window frames were selected as models for the border designs.
