30 years of new year cards

it’s been 30 years and so there are – you guessed it! – 30 cards. well, not exactly 30 – the first ones were christmas cards, which didn’t feel quite right: “merry christmas!” being a greeting that limits its own audience, implicitly excluding those of other faiths or none at all. the first card showed a montage copied onto coloured paper: the sender with a speech bubble; ghastly – but at least it was coloured by hand. the animal alphabet of 2003 was the first card (really a little folded leaflet) to elicit a surprising response: colleagues requested help with the translation, and the director of the graphics collection at staatsgalerie stuttgart responded with a hand-drawn animal-alphabet thankyou letter. now every year we endeavour to offer our greetings in a new and intriguing way – posing a riddle in shapes or words (with the solution supplied on the reverse). the cards have become little art works, lavishly screenprinted (many thanks to eicher werkstätten). this year, instead of a bottle of trollinger (they might prefer a riesling!) we will be sending something very special to our clients, friends and partners to celebrate 30 years of new year’s greetings. if you don’t receive our cards you can view a selection of them on our website. if you’d like to receive a card in the future: send us a handwritten request!
