concrete, cardboard and coffee – gw atlas, issue 21: material
editorial design
lauterach, 2024
it‘s not hard to imagine what logistics firms truck around the world – probably just about everything. but the range of materials it takes to keep a logistics firm running smoothly from one day to the next is pretty diverse too: like asphalt, tarpaulins, water, diesel fuel and cardboard, not to mention the importance of coffee. this may all sound unexceptional, but like us, journalist miriam holzapfel can see the special side of everyday things and she‘s compiled a dossier of 22 materials − with the visual context served up by photographer göran gnaudschun. this not only renders the abstract notion of logistics more concrete but also makes the company that gives us these insights look all the more appealing.
