caractère typographique sur mesure – working with typography for the magazine »vorn«
2010

the sole specification of our client – the free-thinking art magazine »vorn« – was that we should respect no rules as we played with type. so we treated the alphabet like a fabric and asked ourselves what vivienne westwood, geoffrey beene or rei kawakubo would make of the letters. an art directrice experimented with the material, much as a fashion designer would. She produced a range of patterns, each leading to the creation of a different item of clothing. The eight garments made of the akzidenz-grotesk typeface reveal what a rich and variable means of expression type is: from seductive lace dress to elegant evening attire or austere uniform, they can all be tailored from this simple fabric. type is just as versatile as fashion: it can surprise and disguise, entice and improvise.
