a laid-back phlegmatic mode of listening is surely the best. so what better name for a record label than phlegmatic records? the moniker also sets the scene for the label’s design. the figurative mark is duly viscous, sluggish or indeed phlegmatic, languidly scrawled on paper – a snail-like squiggle: lethargic-looking but lovable. the same ponderous principle gave rise to the word mark: the designer listlessly listing the letters with no clear intent. much as in the music management process, here too a conscious lack of momentum has gradually distilled something out of copious chaos. where do they say strength lies? in tranquillity.
