juxtapositions
just as in real life, the artificial desktop simulated by the computer is untidy. not always, of course, and not in every case, but now and again having everything partly visible can serve a purpose. as in the website for the architectural practice lederer ragnarsdottir oei, where image and text appear to overlap. like on a real desktop, everything appears to be in an untidy heap, but there’s method in the madness. people like to eyeball the architecture, so the images are in the foreground, while the text takes a back seat. but when you need the text it surfaces from under the pile of photos. it’s a journey of discovery – not about tidiness, certainly, but perhaps about patterns and proportions.
